The School Story
by Andrew Clements.
What this book is about:
Natalie Nelson is an author and she has written an amazing novel. Her friend, Zoe, encourages her to get it published. No problem, right? It all seems too perfect; Natalie's mom is an editor in a big publishing company. Well there is one problem. Natalie is 12 years old and she's afraid to go to her mom to get the book published. Than Zoe has an idea; Natalie can submit the story to her mom under a pen name. Zoe could be her agent. With some reluctance, Natalie mails her story to her mom under the name of Cassandra Day. Together, she and Zoe work hard to convince her Mrs. Nelson to believe they are grownups so she will publish the book. But that's easier said than done. Even with the help of their skeptical English teacher. Will they ever manage to get the story published?
