Here's my review of the book
Riddle of the Prairie Bride
by Kathryn Reiss
from the series
American Girl History Mysteries.

What this book is about:

Riddle of the Prairie is about a girl named Ida Kate. She lives in Kansas. Ida Kate's mother did form a disease during a blizzard. Her father sent away for a mail order bride, which means he put a add in the eastern paper for a woman to marry. He got a reply from a woman named Caroline Fairchild. She had a baby boy named Hankie, red hair and she was tall. When Caroline got to Kansas she didn't act like she described herself. She had a beautiful sing voice, and she said she couldn't carry a tune. She was a wonderful cook, and she said her servants did most of her cooking, so she never learned. She even said her father fought for the North, but still owned salves. She didn't nurse Hankie and forgot her dead husbands name! When Ida Kate told her friend Martha, they decided to sneak into her room and see what they could find. They found nothing out of the ordinary, until they looked under the bed. Could "Caroline" be not only a liar but a murderess!
