What this book is about:
This book is about a girl named Akeelah Anderson. She is an 11 years old from South Los Angeles. She has a gift for spelling words. She has a mother and her daddy died. Her mothers name is Tanya. Akeelah's mom is mad because Akeelah is in the spelling bee and her mom dose not want her to be in the spelling bee because she had failed one of her grades. Akeelah has a tutor and it is a he his name is Dr. Larabee. Dr. Larabee is sometimes mean and sometimes nice. Akeelah lives in a bad neighborhood. Akeelah made the Scripps National Spelling Bee and becomes famous for what she did.

I think that this book is really good for children for any age.
