I'm Oromis. Het, guys! I need your help urgent! A semi-friend of mine said that while I was en Espana there was a big announcement about the Hobbit film, but wont tell me what it is! They said that it was big and important!!! It's murdering me!!! Does anyone know?

Link to Write Page Message #59 Posted on Thursday, May 8, 2008

I'm Arya/Eowyn. Hi Kathryn! Sorry if I implied that earlier; I've seen all the movies. They are the Best Movies Ever, I think, not counting certain inaccuracies. I'll probably watch them all over (if I can get them) when I finish the LOTR books. That'll probably be when I finish ALL of them, including the Simarillion, etc.

Link to Write Page Message #58 Posted on Monday, May 5, 2008

I'm Kathryn/Errol/Sunny Baudelaire. Hi! Arya, for some some reason I thought you'd finished the series ages ago.. Anyway, that's one of the parts that was much better in the book - I hate how they changed it in the film.. Have you seen all the films? Anyway, happy reading : )
Kathryn

I'm Arya/Eowyn. Hi ya'll! Well, I'm almost through the Two Towers (I'm at the part where Gollum is leading Frodo and Sam up the Stair to Shelob's lair-hey, that rhymes)! yay! Anyway, my mom, bro, and sis all recently went to a library sale. My brother got the Hobbit, TFOTR, TTT, and TROTK as a boxed set for FOUR DOLLARS!! (He won't give it to me either, not even for a birthday present...no, I'm not going to act like Smeogal and murder him for it!) Lucky boy.

Link to Write Page Message #56 Posted on Saturday, April 19, 2008

I'm Sil. Arya-Tee hee-ok. Well, thank your mom for at least giving me some assurance that I'm not going totally Crazy. Has anyone read the grand tour. I'm in a small book group, and we're reading it as our inaugural book. it's magnificent. It manages to tie the deliciousness of a good realistic fiction/historical fiction novel, with interesting conversations, lots of manners, and plenty of empire waists, and the adventure and old-fashioned-goodness of a fantasy adventure with some mysterious aspects. It's quite long, and I have about 300 more pages to go, but I really recommend it. I'll write a review when I'm done.

Link to Write Page Message #55 Posted on Sunday, April 13, 2008

I'm Arya/Eoywn. Hi Sil! I'm flattered, but no.... That would be you, Kathryn, Angela, Argetlamgirl, Oromis...Don't get me started, or I'll be listing pretty much everyone I've ever met. SAT's are yearly exams that school kids take to determine their reading level and whether they are at the right academic grade level, etc. Oh, and my mom says that's what they used to be, so you're still right about that. (College exams/SAT's).

Link to Write Page Message #54 Posted on Saturday, April 12, 2008

I'm Sil. Arya- I haven't read the books, but I was really hoping they had it in there! Yes! SATs? Isn't that what you take before you go to college My sister took it when she was like 16...you can't be older than fourteen? I suppose you are some kind of extremely smart awesome person...

Link to Write Page Message #53 Posted on Friday, April 11, 2008

I'm Arya/Eowyn. Hi Angela! I wasn't really confused during the movies- I'm used to stuff like that, so it's easier to understand for me- but I think they could have been made so that everyone can understand them. Again, I haven't yet read ROTK- I'm in the middle of TTT, right after the Battle of Helm's Deep. I was very happy to find out that the little contest between Legolas and Gimli happens in the books, too- I was reading that part during SAT's and couldn't help laughing softly. It was hard to keep it quiet! lol.

Link to Write Page Message #52 Posted on Tuesday, April 8, 2008

I'm Angela. Hey Arya/Eowyn! I agree, the movies could have been made a lot easier to understand. My friends who saw the movies and have never read the books were waaaay confused when they saw it. Luckily, it had enough exciting scenes to keep them interested! Has anyone seen the extended versions of the movies? I thought they were amazing and included a lot more scenes from the book! I am disapointed though that they completely left out the battle for the shire at the end of The Return of The King. That was the best part!! Saruman died a different way in the books too. I don't remember all that well, but didn't his creepy little asistant guy kill him or was it Frodo?

Link to Write Page Message #51 Posted on Monday, April 7, 2008

I'm Arya/Eowyn. Hello! This page needs a starter...As I read the Lord of the Rings trilogy, I'm noticing little things that would have made the movies so much easier to watch- like actually mentioning the fact that Hobbits are only called Hobbits by themselves- everyone else calls them Halflings. Although Aragorn, etc. do call them Halflings most of the time, that would have made things a bit clearer. Or that Aragorn is called Strider because that's the name he chose for himself, for the purpose of invisibility. Ya know?

Link to Write Page Message #50 Posted on Thursday, March 27, 2008

I'm Arya/Eowyn. Remembered! It's The Rise of the Wyrm Lord, part of the Door Within Series. The Internet is really useful for reserving books. But, all the books I placed requests for are out. And I'm fourteenth in line for Book of a Thousand Days. **sighs**

Link to Write Page Message #49 Posted on Wednesday, March 26, 2008

I'm Arya/Eowyn. Yay! My mom finally took me to the library! I checked out The Two Towers, although I couldn't figure out which other ones I wanted. Now I realize that the one I couldn't find was Book of a Thousand Days, the one I couldn't remember was Skeleton Key by Anthony Horowitz, and I still can't remember the other one. Darn, I'll have to figure it out!

Link to Write Page Message #48 Posted on Monday, March 24, 2008

I'm Arya/Eowyn. And How on earth did you do italics?

Link to Write Page Message #47 Posted on Monday, March 24, 2008

I'm Arya. Hi Kathryn! I could, but I hate trying to navigate my school's library. For me, the closest public library is much more familiar, and don't even try to get me to navigate the main library in my county. Yeah, I think it was you. Or maybe it was Angela. One of you! =P lol.Anyway, we did have that discussion- let's see, Yup, it was you. December 30. I agree, having five million different names for one person does get confusing. Like the way Matthias is also Aragorn and King of the Dead. It's impossible to find his bio, and at first I thought that he, his other Redwall alias, King of the Dead, and Aragorn Son of Arathorn were all different people until by some stroke of luck I found his bio.

Link to Write Page Message #46 Posted on Sunday, March 23, 2008

I'm Kathryn/Errol/Sunny Baudelaire. Hi! It was me that mentioned it? I had no idea. lol.
Frodo, you're Oromis? This is getting somewhat confusing.
Arya, oh, right. Well I hope you get it soon. Can't you get it in your school library or something?
Kathryn

Link to Write Page Message #45 Posted on Saturday, March 22, 2008

I'm Frodo. Hi Kathryn! You mentioned the trilogy thing once when I (Oromis) mentioned something calling it a trilogy. Since then I've come to see the book in your philosophy!

Link to Write Page Message #44 Posted on Saturday, March 22, 2008

I'm Arya/Eowyn. Hi Kathryn! 1, I believe that you've brought that up before. 2, I haven't even gotten to The Return of the King! I'll only be able to even read The Two Towers when my mom actually drives me to the library.

Link to Write Page Message #43 Posted on Friday, March 21, 2008

I'm Kathryn/Errol/Sunny Baudelaire. Hi! Angela, yeah, Anne of Green Gables is still a good book even if Matthew dies.
We need something to discuss... I know this isn't very interesting but who thinks of the LOTR as a trilogy? I think of it as all one book because the story is very much connected in terms of time and plot and no background is given at the start of tTT or tRotK concerning the previous book(s). In actual fact it's 6 books because each of the 3 books are divided into half.
Another thing, who has read the appendix at the end of tRotK? It's like another book in itself giving loads of information and background. I didn't read all of it because parts of the history of Middle Earth got a bit boring and stuff but some of it was good information like what happened after LOTR ended.
Kathryn

Link to Write Page Message #42 Posted on Thursday, March 20, 2008

I'm Arya/Eowyn. Darn it! I hate giving things away! I do that too much already with my friend Tomboy (name changed for protection; same person I mentioned on the Inheritance page) about Eragon. Although I always lie and say that doesn't actually happen, and she tells me later, "You lied!" =P Goodheartedly. Anyway, don't worry, Angela. AOGG does have a happy ending, if I remember correctly!

Link to Write Page Message #41 Posted on Tuesday, March 18, 2008

I'm Angela. Mathew dies in Anne of Green Gables?!! Great, another book with a sad ending!! I've been reading so many of those lately! I really liked it so far...Don't blame yourself Arya/Eowyn, I would've found out sooner or later.

Link to Write Page Message #40 Posted on Monday, March 17, 2008

I'm Arya/Eowyn. Nay, it was Aragorn's, I belive. Correct me if I'm wrong, please. I suppose you're correct, although I generally am very sensitive during movies and I didn't cry through the entire trilogy. Although I did cry a lot when Matthew died in Anne of Green Gables, just as an example.

Link to Write Page Message #39 Posted on Monday, March 17, 2008

I'm Sil. Okay, so, I just recently watched the fellowship, and the scene where Boromir dies always brings tears to my eyes. Some people get a bad impression of him. he's such a warrior, and he's very honorable and strong in that way. I also have another reason to like him. I have an aunt that I never met due to breast cancer. My mom says that as she was dying, she kept on fighting it and fighting it as yet another beeping noise would surface, just like Boromir kept on slashing at the urukai and orks, even as second and third arrows hit him. It always makes me feel as if the movie, beforehand, emphasized him being tempted too much. It's not his fault, it's just the way things were set up. Plus, it wasn't /his/ ancestor who didn't listen to Elrond, and kept it instead of throwing the ring into Mt. Doom...

Link to Write Page Message #38 Posted on Saturday, March 15, 2008

I'm Arya. Oh! Thanks, Angela! I remember liking him. You're right, the creepy sit-in king death scene was kinda scary. Particularly since he was...uh, insane and burned himself and almost Faramir both alive.

Link to Write Page Message #25 Posted on Thursday, February 21, 2008

I'm Sil. Angela- Don't forget! In the movies, at least, Faramir gets together with Eoin, and I think they make the cutest couple!

Link to Write Page Message #24 Posted on Thursday, February 21, 2008

I'm Maddie/Kit Snicket. Thanks Kathryn! I'll see if I can find TFOTR at a used bookstore and in the meantime I'll read The Hobbit!

Link to Write Page Message #23 Posted on Wednesday, February 20, 2008

I'm Angela. Hey Arya! Faramir is Boromir's brother. He is the son of the creepy steward of Gondor who threw himself off the cliff. [That was a wierd part in the movie.] He is also the leader of a gang of..hmm..I guess they are archers. He is the younger son and is always trying to prove himself to his father who likes Boromir the best. In the end I think he marries Eowyn. He's a pretty cool character all in all. oh, and he captures frodo and sam at one point because he wants to bring the ring to his father. Sil- I agree, he does seem kind of mysterious. I think that's what I like about him. He's not all war- loving like many of the great warriors in the books like aragorn and Legolas. I imagine after the books end he settles down and has a family.

Link to Write Page Message #22 Posted on Wednesday, February 20, 2008

I'm Kathryn/Errol/Sunny Baudelaire. Hi! Maddie, that's sad, normally you should be able to get the LOTR from a library, right? But it doesn't matter if you read the hobbit first. I would say it's almost better. It gives you a background to the setting of the story and hobbits in general. I read The Hobbit first, it was better that way for me.
Kathryn

Link to Write Page Message #21 Posted on Tuesday, February 19, 2008

I'm Maddie. Hi guys! I've been trying to get The Fellowship of the Ring from my library for some time but all that I could find was a copy of The Hobbit. Does anyone know where I could find a copy of The Fellowship of the Ring? And would The Hobbit make sense to someone who hasn't read any of the other Lord of the Rings books? Thanks a bunch!

Link to Write Page Message #20 Posted on Friday, February 15, 2008

I'm Arya. I agree, Angela! That's one of my fave parts as well! Oh, gosh...I really like Galadriel, if only because she's so graceful, mysterious, and regal. I also like Evenstar (can't remember her real name) and Eowyn....and Frodo...and Sam....and Pippin....and Merri....and Gandalf...and Gimli...not forgeting Legolas!....Why can't I decide? Too many good characters! The list seriously doesn't end. I know how you feel, Kathryn! I don't really think I need to say why I like everybody because you and Angela have pretty much covered it. Okay, this is going to sound heretic of me, but I can't remember who Faramir is. ...Help?

Link to Write Page Message #19 Posted on Friday, February 15, 2008

I'm Arya. I wouldn't know a lot about the books, because I've only read the Hobbit and TFOTR, but I have seen all the movies, so these are some of my favorite parts. *plot spoilers* -When the Fellowship is in the caves(darn, I can't remember the names of the mines...this just proves I'm far from obsessed with LOTR) and Gimli says to Legolas, "This dwarf will not be tossed!" Then, when Legolas is across, he says, "Alright. But don't tell the elf!" Or something like that. - When Evenstar rescues Frodo and the Fellowship, saving him from becoming a Ringwraith. So cool! -When Merri and Pippin and Sam run into the Council of Elrond and say that they're coming. -Elrond- "It seems you are inseparable, even when one of you is invited to a secret council and the rest are not." He says that the Fellowship has been chosen. Pippin(or is it Merri?) says, "Right then. Where are we going?" -When Gimli is jumping up and down going, "I can't see!" in a battle during the Two Towers (you know, when they're on the castle wall?)." Get a box!" - When Legolas and Gimli are going, "How many did you get?" -Legolas- "Forty." -Gimli- "Forty two!" Legolas shoots between Gimli's legs at the body he's sitting on; looks annoyed. -Gimli- " I have my axe in his skull!" -Legolas- "He was twitching." -The drinking contest! Gimli explains the rules and begins..drinking. Legolas does too, and Gimli eventually passes out. -Legolas- "I feel a strange tingling in my fingers. I think it's affecting me." Men laugh harder, Gimli passes out. -Legolas- "The contest is over." Fine, I'll skip the next hundred. - (are we noticing a trend?) When Legolas takes out an entire elephant full of soldiers and the elephant. -Gimli- "That still only counts as one!" ...and that's only a few!

Link to Write Page Message #18 Posted on Thursday, February 14, 2008

I'm Sil. Angela- I have to say that's actually my least favorite part of the movie...but anyway. What is with Faramir? I haven't been able to figure him out. He seems...well, different. Different in many ways than his Countrymen. Most people of Gondor seem to be very warrior-like, like Klingons if you're a Trekkie. But Faramir, well, he's just different. When I first remember imagining him, I remember thinking of him as just like Robin Hood, but I guess that was silly of me. Any insight?

Link to Write Page Message #17 Posted on Thursday, February 14, 2008

I'm Kathryn/Errol/Sunny Baudelaire. Hi! Angela, I agree. I like LOTR so much but there's just not enough discussion seeing as the books are finished. I like Sam too, he could be my favourite as well. I also like Aragorn, especially in the films. I was so shocked at how plain he sounded in interviews in special features! He was so lively in the film. Even though Frodo is kind of the main character, I don't really like him as much. I know it's not his own fault but he's so gloomy all the time. I guess that's his part. lol.
Another thing I like about the books is that there isn't an outstanding main character. There are lots of minor characters but every one of the 9 has their own part. Frodo and Sam play an equal part in getting to Mordor. Pippin and Merry are the cause of destroying Isengard, Pippin saves Faramir's life and Merry kills the Witch King. Legolas and Gimli each kill a lot of foes and help bring the corsair ships into the battle. Also they bring a lot of humour into the books. I laughed so much during the battle scene where they were playing the game of who could kill more. Aragorn settles to be King and Gandalf dies, comes back to life and basically watches over everything. Did I mention everyone?
This message is getting long.. one last point. A cool thing about this story is that the villain saves the day. Even stupid, slimy Gollum had his part to play in the end!
Kathryn

I'm Angela. What is with this page? No one has posted since feb. 7th! okay, I can see we need a conversation starter seeing as lord of the Rings is absolutely amazing. Okay..hmm..I haven't actually read it since I was eight or nine, but my favorite character is Sam..and Eowyn. I love the part in the movie when she kills one of the nazgul. And hes like "no man can kill me" and then she's all like "I am no man!" It's pretty sweet. I saw a lisence plate that said Nazgul on it the other day. It was kinda funny, that person must have been a huge fan. TTFN [ta ta for now!]

Link to Write Page Message #13 Posted on Saturday, January 26, 2008

I'm Sil. Yasmine- I know what you mean! The books are quite hard to read, but the movies keep the pace going...the only thing I can never forgive Peter Jackson for is cutting Tom Bombadil. That was terribly.

Link to Write Page Message #12 Posted on Tuesday, January 22, 2008

I'm Arya. Hi Yasmine(the study)! I like the movies, too, but I just finished the Fellowship of the Ring and I'm going to start The Two Towers, as well as the Simarilion. Tolkien's style isn't exactly what I'm used to, but I still love it!

I'm Yasmine (the study) . I love lord of the rings, but mostley the movies!!

Link to Write Page Message #10 Posted on Monday, December 31, 2007

I'm Arya. Hi Kathryn! I kind of think of LOTR as a trilogy, though I know what you mean. Good points!

Link to Write Page Message #9 Posted on Sunday, December 30, 2007

I'm Kathryn/Errol. Hi! Oromis, I think the books can't really be called a trilogy or series as it's just one story, originally 6 and sometimes published in one volume. I never really think of the books as a trilogy, but certainly the beginning of the story is more...well, calm, I think. I think this is because the story is just starting and the characters, background, setting etc need to be introduced. Plus the physical journey across Middle Earth means that they encounter people and places where battles would be more likely to occur. There's also of course the fact that in the end a battle should occur as a climax although in this case the good side only half wins by battling as a diversion - Frodo and Sam do the vital work. That's an interesting fact though, I'd never really thought about it before.
Kathryn

Link to Write Page Message #8 Posted on Friday, December 28, 2007

I'm Oromis!. Don't you think that TFOTR is a lot different from the others? I mean it's mostly journeying, in the others it's mostly battles!

Link to Write Page Message #7 Posted on Saturday, December 22, 2007

I'm Arya. Sil, I'm not going to tell you her part in the books if you've not read them (or watched the movies, which it seems you have.). Besides that? What Oromis said.
