I'm Maddie. There's always the possibility that the Twins realized what Murtagh was but didn't say anything about it for one reason or another.
Message #91 NEW Posted on Thursday, May 8, 2008
I'm Arya. Hi Angela! Long time no see! I wish you were younger so you had longer on the site lol. Back to the discussion- but if he'd already been training under Galbatorix, wouldn't he be able to block certain parts of his mind? Methinks he'd be way more powerful than the Twins IF he was already a Rider. Personally, I don't think he was already a Rider. I don't really know (duh), but it just doesn't seem right to me, though a valid theory.I know Brom kept his hidden for a long time, but what about Murtagh? He might not have known about the dye yet. And besides, if he'd already sided with Galby, I'm not sure he really would have tried to fool Ajihad. Still, evil is often deceptive, despite being bold when in power.
Message #90 NEW Posted on Thursday, May 8, 2008
I'm Angela. Interesting theory Oromis. But wouldn't Murtagh have had Rider powers if Thorn was already hatched? [unless he actually has to spend time with his dragon to get them.] And he couldn't use magic when he came to the Varden. I think the twins would have realized if he could.
Message #89 NEW Posted on Thursday, May 8, 2008
I'm Maddie. Thanks Arya!
Message #88 Posted on Tuesday, May 6, 2008
I'm Arya. Hi Oromis! You paraphrased, methinks. Hi Maddie! Yeah, I'm not in that conversation (yet), but touche. I think you both have good points.
Message #87 Posted on Tuesday, May 6, 2008
I'm Maddie. Hi Oromis! Hmm...well we know that Thorn hatched for Murtagh. If Thorn was hatched about the same time as Saphira, that would mean that Murtagh was still living with Galbatorix at the beginning of Eragon, wouldn't it?
Message #86 Posted on Tuesday, May 6, 2008
I'm Oromis. Oooh! Quotes! "Eragon" she said. "IS THAT ALL YOU CAN SAY?" snapped Eragon, still bitter at the news of his cousins departure. "Yes" the sphire dragon replied. Great. She's developed a sense of humour.~Ergon and Saphira, in the first chapers of the first book~
Message #85 Posted on Tuesday, May 6, 2008
I'm Oromis. Hi everyone! I had a thought before. I remember ages ago that someone asked how Thorn had matured so quick. I didn't think much of it, as he had plenty of time to mature, but today I thought that maybe Thorn hatched around the same time as Saphira and was kept in Uru Baen whilst Murtaugh went to Eragon, in order to ensure Murtaugh's return. Thoughts?

I'm Arya. Angela. Dangerous idea- i really like Angela! Chapter- Mandrake Root and Newt's Tongue "...'Anyway, I knew I had to get to the Varden as fast as possible. I've been here for nearly a month now, though I don't really care for this place- it's far to musty for my taste. And everyone in Farthen Dur is so serious and noble. They're probably all doomed to tragic deaths anyway.' She gave a long sigh, a mocking expression on her face. 'And the dwarves are just a superstitious bunch of ninnies content to hammer rocks all their lives. The only redeeming aspect of this place is all the mushrooms and fungi that grow inside Farthen Dur.'"
There's a few other good Angela quotes, but I'll save those for later; I gotta post on the other pages before bedtime.

"You're right. After all how can a mere dragon expect to tell a man like yourself what to do? In fact, eveyone should stand in awe of your brilliance of finding the only dead end" ~Saphira~
That one is my personal favorite of all Saphira's lines in the books.

I'm Angela. hey Everyone! I haven't visited this page in a while because I haven't had anything really great to say, but I feel like discussing again! I thought we could do what they are doing on the HP page and write our favorite part or quote from each chapter! I don't remember who had that idea to give them credit for it, but to whoever it was, thanks for the idea!

I'm Arya. Hi Kathryn! It's optional; you only put in your mobile if you want to sign up for the mobile club. Er... the mobile newsletter. You only really need the email one, methinks. =D

I'm Kathryn/Errol/Sunny Baudelaire. Hi! Arya or anyone else, I tried to sign up of the newsletter just now but it kept asking me for my mobile number. I have a mobile but it's Japanese so I don't think it will register, plus I don't really want to tell them my mobile number and I don't need the newsletter by phone. Does anyone know how to overcome this problem?

Message #75 Posted on Sunday, April 13, 2008
I'm Arya. Hello! I just read a newsletter from CP that I get, and apparently they just had to put their dog, Annie, down. Sad. She was apparently the basis, on many points, for Saphira. CP signed the newsletter, "Stydja unin mor’ranr, Annie. May the ground squirrels whisper your name in terror for generations to come."
Apparently, winter is LOONG in Montana. When I recieved the mail, CP said that they had just had another eight inches of snow in a whiteout snowstorm. The most I've ever been in is like...that much. And that wasn't at home either- I was having Christmas with my mom's side of the family when I was eight or so. Maybe six.( I had 70 degree weather in my area yesterday! ) On a more Inheritance related note, he also said that he's on the home stretch with Brisingr. Finished with the first draft and editing! Oh, and as writers sometimes like to put it, Arthur C. Clarke recently made the big deadline. In other words, sadly, he passed away. "..the literary world recently lost Arthur C. Clarke, the last of the Big Three science fiction authors. (The others being Heinlein and Asimov.) Each of the three wrote books that had a profound influence on me while growing up. In Clarke’s case, it was Rendezvous with Rama, Childhood’s End, and 2001. Arthur C. Clarke was one of the greatest prophets and visionaries of our time, and the world is a poorer place without him. May the memory of him live forever among the stars."
In case I didn't make it clear, CP's in the process of editing, he's not done with that part yet.

I'm Maddie. Hey Arya! Yeah, I read that most people have to wait a minimum of 3-4 months for replys to their letters to authors and celebs.
Message #73 Posted on Friday, April 11, 2008
I'm Arya. Hi Maddie! You're right, he'll probably get a few kicks off of them. Argetlamgirl waited several months for a reply, so don't expect anything too soon...lol. Hi Caroline! Your sister has the right idea, methinks...=D

I'm Caroline. Hey guys! Maddie- The letter sounds cool! When I was in third grade, I started writing a letter to Miranda Otto, who was Eowyn in Lord of the Rings, but sadly I never sent it. Just curious--did you send a picture for him to sign? That's what my best friend's sister did when she wrote to Rupert Grint, (I think, or it was Emma Watson or Danielle Radcliffe, I'm not sure) and she sent a picture of all three of them together, and they all signed it! Also, she framed it--I would too!! I hope you get a reply!!

I'm Maddie. Hi Allie! I just mailed the letter this morning. I hope I get an answer! I asked him if he had any tips on writing and told him about the book that I'm writing. And I mentioned some of our theories here on this page about Brisingr. I thought he might get a laugh out of some of them. (: I didn't really ask him about Brisingr though because I know he probably won't answer questions about Brisingr anyway so why waste my time?

Message #63 Posted on Monday, April 7, 2008
I'm Arya. Hi Angela! Yeah, it does, on page 508 of Eragon (I have the paperback movie edition, which is probably why it ripped in half.). "...'Her health was poor, as if she had suffered a great illness, and she grew steadily worse. Within a fortnight, she died.' " But hey- you've read Argetlamgirl's fanfic, right? Maybe she faked her death with Murtagh or Brom or somebody else's help and escaped! I think Argetlamgirl could be on to something. I think that if he died, then the editors would refer to his drafts to figure it out, and then announce it to the public to avoid a riot. =) lol. Hi Allie! If you've not read Eldest, you might not want to read this... Okay. There's one dragon egg left (Greenie), and there's- let's see....Galbatorix and Shruikan, though he's not really a true Rider, Oromis and Glaedr, Eragon and Saphira, and Murtagh and Thorn. I think you mean Odysseus, right? Or Ulysses, if you refer to the Roman version. I think there is, like when Eragon was protesting for Murtagh's sake before Ajihad...but then, Ajihad was a kind man in the first place. I think he probably would have done what he did anyway; even without Eragon's interjection. Hi Collin! I'm not a polytheist either; I'm a Protestant Christian. And technically, there were a lot of stories passed down through generations before Homer ever came around, and Eragon is really a fantasy novel, while the Odyssey is more of a...well, you could call it fantasy, because it involves gods, but that's what Homer believed to be true, so.... **shrugs** If you wanna say that CP copied, then that technically means that every mortal writer in history copied someone, because plotlines always follow this sort of structure: intro, problem, climax, problem solved. Hi Amerous! No clue. It probably was started a LONG time ago, the first time CP mentioned a green dragon egg. I would tell you that I would know about it if he died- trust me, I would. Come on; I'm searching the web for stuff like that all the time. Ha ha. Hi Nobody! That's a likely possibility. I agree, because if there wasn't, he wouldn't even be human anymore. And please don't get on my case, people, about how technically, Riders aren't human or elvish or whatever anymore...
Sometimes I wonder if anyone ever reads my ramblings. ;D

I'm Angela. Hey Amerous! I would probably go insane if he died. [You are kidding, right?] It would be one of the world's greatest mysteries- how does the ineritance cycle end? CP is probably the only one who knows. I doubt he even told his family how it ends. He should have a backup plan just in case he dies by some freak accident before he finishes.

I'm Allie. Thanks a bunch, Amerous Shadeslayer!
Hi Nobody (Just out of curiosity, do you mean Nobody as in "anonymous" or the Greek guy who met Polyphemus the Cylclops?)! Fascinating thought about Murtagh. I wouldn't be surprised if that were true, because as you said, though he seems to almost loathe Eragon at the end of "Eldest," they are still brothers, and deep down, he must feel some remorse or pity or even kindness towards a relative--especially since he and Eragon used to be such good friends. By the way, did Eragon ever save Murtagh's life? There might be a life-debt, then, which other authors have played off of interestingly...
Message #51 Posted on Sunday, March 30, 2008
I'm Nobody. hi everyone! I think in the end, murtagh is going to somehow sacrifice hiself to save eragon. he said that he wouldn't show eragon mercy again, bt I'm sure there's a soft place in his heart (you can sorta tell)

I'm Amerous Shadeslayer. Hey everyone! Shadeslayer again! Allie, the current rider/egg situation is there is one egg left (Greeny's egg!) no one is sure about who the new rider is going to be, and... Who invented using Greeny for the green dragon anyway? It's cool but I don't remember who started using it. Anywho they're saving greeny for the fourth book.

I'm Allie. Hi everyone! Angela, interesting Selena idea. I honestly can't remember (ack! Not remembering has become my hobby lately...) if it ever says that she's dead, but I've always assumed; CP could definitely have been setting us up with assumptions!
Speaking of forgetting things...could someone give me a quick recap of the current rider/dragon egg situation? How many are left, etc.? Thank you so much!
Message #47 Posted on Friday, March 28, 2008
I'm Amerous Shadeslayer. Hey guys! Oromis, Eragon doesn't totally copy LOTR and Star Wars. It may copy it a little bit but, everything, when you think about, is copying Shakespeare. And yes Eragon is better than Eldest.Se onr sverdar sitja hvass!Amerous Shadeslayer.P.S. I love Avatar too, rule bender that's funny :)
Message #46 Posted on Friday, March 28, 2008
I'm Angela. Wow Oromis, that was pretty cold..to CP I mean. I agree that the books are very similar to Star Wars, but it does have some uniqueness [I think I've just created a word] of it's own. I used to watch the Avatar shows quite a lot, but it's not on much anymore, and I've kinda fallen away from it. I like Momo and I wish I had a flying bison though. [For those of you who have never seen the show, that last comment actually was completly relevant.] Getting back to the books, I have a question.[Please don't flip out at me. I haven't read the books in a while!] Did they ever really mention that Selena was dead? I thought they mentioned she died, but did they say how? Maybe she's still alive and CP has been tricking us all along!!
Message #45 Posted on Friday, March 28, 2008
I'm Oromis. Hi Everyone! Argetlamgirl, you know my opinions on the god matter, a little more detailed then everyone else, which is probably good, because if you all knew, you'd hate me! Since this spoilers come out it's made me doubt inheritance more and more. I can safely say that Eragon was a lot better than Eldest. And really, Eragon was a complete copy of LOTR and Starwars. It was still awesome, but to tell you the truth, I think CP lacks creativity. I did enjoy Eldest, but again, it was a copy, but wasn't as good, I don't know. I do think the god is a new idea, but I think it's the wrong one. Amerous Shadeslayer! I know it might be for kinda little kids, but I love Avatar! Did you know that I'm a bender? A rule bender!

I'm Arya. But I'm sure he'll do a great job with it. I'm going to put CP down a bit more, bad me. (Don't let Tomboy know!) I was reading the Two Towers earlier today, and methinks that one of his favorite books is Lord of the Rings. He seems to have used a lot of stuff, like the elves' manner of rest and the Beorns' name..

Message #42 Posted on Thursday, March 27, 2008
I'm Maddie. True, Argetlamgirl. I didn't consider the fact that the elves don't worship. And what I don't understand is why everyone here thinks that a scene with a God would be cheesy. It seems to me as though it would add interest to the book. But I don't know.
I like your namechange, Amerous Shadeslayer!

I'm Arya. Hi Argetlamgirl! NO, that wouldn't be funny. Arya's personality doesn't fit Aphrodite. At all. It would be ironic, though. Somehow, I don't think that CP will use Greek or Roman mythology. I wouldn't be surprised if he used the dwarves' mythology.
**sighs** I wish my parents would let me email you like that. It's for security reasons, I guess. Oh, well. At least she lets me talk to ya'll on here. You're right, but I think that if the "god" is one of the Grey Folk, that person will deny it. And please tell me that you're not morphing into Gollum! =)

I'm Amerous Shadeslayer. Hey guys! Angela, the only reason I use CP is because it is easier to type then Christopher Paolini, which is longer and takes more time. Anywho, I think that the villans have unique personalitys. For exsample, The Twins are more sly and cuning than, oh let's say... Durza, who is pure evil and a bit more outforward or whatever. There is also the Ra'zac are quick and fast striking, espiecialy in the dark, but Galby is not the one to fight, but the one to give orders. Se onr svendar sitja hvass! I'm Argetlamgirl. Hey, Everyone! It's been so long since I've been on this page . . . anyway, I'm on the fence about the spoiler on Alagaesia.com. It could be a good thing- maybe this god won't be too cheesy, but I think that it could be. My worst fear is that Murtagh will be Hades or that Brom will magically come back to life as Zeus. Or we could be ironic and say that Arya is Aphrodite, the godess of love. That would be hilarious! Anyway, I just hope that CP makes the story as good as the first two. I've noticed that a lot of people are compairing CP's books to the Harry Potter series, and I just want to put in that I wouldn't know- I'm not allowed to read HP! Arya (the one on this site)- Yes, Oromis and I are really, really good friends. WE are constantly e-mailing and IMing eachother, creating websites together, and sharing writing advice. We have tons in common. So much, in fact, that we joke about being twins separated at birth! Angela- your oppinion is interesting. I mean, I do think that Galby and the twins are a bit alike and that can be quite boring, but we don't have to worry about those nasty twinses now, do we hobbitzes? Sorry, LOTR moment. Maddie- I like your idea a lot, but the Riders are elf-based, and the Elves don't believe in gods. Maybe the god is one of the Gray Folk? The people that made up the ancient language would be pretty powerful, and if they had the name of the ancient language and could give that to Eragon, then he could defeat Galby with it. Allie, I also like your idea. The dragons could have a god of old. After all, gods take many shapes and forms. Well, this message is long and I am sleepy, so I must bid all of you farewell. May you soar on dragon wings!
Message #37 Posted on Wednesday, March 26, 2008
I'm Maddie. Hi Angela! Too true. People have been putting CP down and it doesn't seem fair to him. It's his series after all and CP should be able to write it however he wishes too without fear of others scorning his ideas.
I personally don't think that the villan's personallity's blend together. Well in a way they do but that's in a good way.
And when you're speaking about JK's books, that just means that she has a slightly different writing style than CP does. However, I do understand your point. She certainly gives her villans quite distinct personalities. (:
But it's all in your oppinion I suppose.
May your swords stay sharp!

Message #36 Posted on Tuesday, March 25, 2008
I'm Arya. That would be cool! But I don't really see it. The Ra'zac are classic monsters, and Durza and the Twins were classic baddies.IDK. My guess is that, although avid readers make great authors, it can be a bit hard to be completely original with your ideas. Actually, that's impossible to be completely original. But it can be very hard, for example, to come up with good names when you already have a couple dozen from other books floating around in your head.
Message #35 Posted on Tuesday, March 25, 2008
I'm Angela. wow, a lot of people have been putting down CP. lol. poor guy. I'm going to put him down just a bit more even though he is a great author. Villians are always my favorite part of books. It seems like in the Inheritance books that all the villians have the same personalities. I think CP needs to make the personalities of the twins, Durza, and the Razaak [might have spelled that wrong] a bit different. To me it seems like they're all the same people.[ He likes in villians in groups to, doesn't he?] For example, J.K. Rowling does a great job of giving each of her villians a very unique personality, and gives insight into what made them go evil, though CP does that with Galby. Hopefully Galbotorix will turn out awesome [in an evil way] when we finally meet him!
Message #34 Posted on Tuesday, March 25, 2008
I'm Maddie. I agree with Allie. It seems that it would be pretty strange if the god was related to Eragon. Perhaps the god is some ancient god that the Riders worshipped? Just a thought.
