great comments from kids
Here are some great comments kids have sent me over the past few years from our Read Comments From Kids page.
Books can take you anywhere in the world. Open a book, and you can escape to a world full of adventure, or mystery, or anything else you can imagine. You can lose yourself in the pages of a book and when the adventure becomes too tiresome, you can close the book. If only that was true in real life. But since it's not, we have books. Books to keep us company when we're lonely. Books to make us laugh and books to thrill us beyond our wildest dreams. Books to make us believe. Such wonderful things can be attained in the pages of a book.
Many books are about magic. When one is reading such books, one often wishes that magic could happen and could be wielded. What they don't realise is that it can; and, as your eyes scan the pages of a book, it does happen. There are many types of magic, and they all happen when you read. You can be teleported somewhere else, you can be a dragon, of elf, you can wield a wand, sword or even a lightsaber. Alternatively you could be someone entirely different, go from one extreme to the next, do crazy things! What's really magic is that you don't even have to move! You see people, magic is real, and my source, is simply a book!
A book is like a portal to another world, you're in that world the moment you start reading that first word. Books can encourage you to follow your dreams or become a hero. They teach you new things, and spread your vocabulary. So go pick up a book or write one yourself. There is a world just waiting to be discovered, and born from your imagination!
I love reading. It's really been a great help in getting me through tough times. Books help me to expand my vocabulary and open my mind to new things and ideas. (And it can work for you too!) If you always have a book, you always have a friend. Even though books and television both tell stories, you learn so much more and benefit more from reading.
Reading is really great. You can forget about worrys and get taken into a world of imagination. Reading will also make you friends. It's a way to get talking. If you say to someone "Have you read..." and they say yes then you have a conversation started! It's really good if you find a book-lover who reads the same kind of books as you for a friend.
When you read books, you fall into a wonderful world,
Of animals and biographies to magic and fiction.
You imagine beautiful places,
They are so wonderful you feel as if you are in benediction.
The words on a page become images in your mind,
If you look harder you will find,
The heart of a writer,
Who loves to write,
Who loves the reader,
They are leaders,
In thier art.
You read thier words and feel as if you are the character,
Now you shut the book,
And grab another one,
For you are done, The work,
Of a writer.
If you can read this, and think about who I truly am, to picture to yourself what I look like in your head, you are a true reader. We are all true readers, every single person on earth. Everyone can imagine things, they can feel the authors words and can see images in their head, but there are only few who persist and continue reading throughout their lives. Reading books are portals, they can send you into a laughing fit, or they can give you fright, they can siphon you off into a world of euphoria and they can plunge you into a dangerous plot. Books are made of dreams, dreams that the author has that you will read their books, dreams that you will enjoy yourself while reading the book and tell others, dreams that the magic in their story will be true. Books are amazing things, I find. They make you open up and think about what's really happening, they teach you, and they guide you. That's why I find reading so important. It can calm you when you are angry and soothe you when you are sad. They are not just words on paper, they are gifts from all those dear writers whose minds have weaved such a brilliant tale. These authors are the reason why I LOVE TO READ! Read each book as if it were a gift to you.
I love to read. It's so much more fun than anything. You feel like you're really there. Like if you're lonely, you can read a book about nice, friendly people and you feel like they're your friends. That's why I find books so amazing.
I really love to read and I would like to say thanks to you Mr. Brown for this website. It has taught me how to right good reviws, find differnt genres of books, and how to express myself through the many posts on the different pages of this site. I would also like to thank all the authors of the world who have created these books that I love so much. These are very talented people. Overall I just love to read and write. Writing a story is like a diary of all your thoughts and ideas. Reading helps me to get a better understanding of new words and types of writing. Without books and writing, my life would be very dull. I LOVE BOOKS!
Reading makes me feel so amazing. Taking words and putting them together to make a picture of what's going on in your mind. With books, I can go to the past, future, present, Egypt, Mexico, Canada, anywhere, any time. It's hard to explain what I feel about reading and writing, exploring and seeking, finding and journeying. When I sit down and start to read, I feel like I am filling up my mind with knowledge and new vocabulary words like stiffle, credential, and obituary. I also improve my knowledge of grammar too. In closing, I think reading is one of the coolest things on Earth.
Mr. Brown, reading and writing are the most amazing things in my life. Reading allows me to travel to different worlds, to be somebody else, to expand my knowledge, and my limited ideas. I have always said that we humans are never able to express our ideas, but words are the closest things that allow us to do so. Writing allows me to express how I feel and to experiment with dfferent ideas and people. When I write, i suddnly become a person in a situation i have never experienced before. Its fun to see how things turn out for me.
I love to read and write. I think that a child who often reads has a better future ahead of them. Reading works kids' minds. It helps with their spelling, vocabulary, and even their creativity. Reading is a many splendid thing!
I think reading is such a great activity to do. I like reading because it is an intelligent way to spend your free time. It's like going on your own vacation inside your own home. It's like watching a movie in your head except you pay way less and you can leave it without missing any good scenes. A book can be your friend at times when your sad or lonely or all your other friends are gone somewhere fabulous and didn't invite you. It is wonderful how so many Kids read and enjoy reading! It must be really boring for people that aren't able to read because...I LOVE reading!
Books are amazing friends to have. They fill your free time with fun and enjoyment, and they are always willing to talk to you, they are never too busy because the purpose of books is being read. And if you are reading you are NOT 'sat there doing nothing', you are broadening your horizons with the help of some printed words.
Let me just say that I LOVE TO READ!!! I have been reading since i was 3 years old. And the sight of books thrill me. My favourite type of books are fiction, based on a true story, mysteries and non fiction. And if you don't like to read you should because when you read it is like you are off in another world that takes you away from everything going on in your life. It it so stressless. You will love it and learn to love reading too, just like how I do.
I'd like to say that reading lets me escape from my world. I 've had a very tough life, living with fighting all over the place. I'm not really liked at school, but when I read it's like, instantly I can have as many friends as I want; I can love and be passionate for someone and something. Also I'd like to say hi to everyone here. I just found this site and I like it.
I have been reading since I was 3, so I read books that are for grownups, kids, teens, or young adults. I think that to me reading is how I escape my life. I can shut the door to life and hole myself up in bed while I read a good book. Without a book on the go I feel empty and lost. If I couldn't read I would be so bored I might die. I think that anyone who doesn't enjoy reading is fine, but they probably just haven't found the right book for themselves. I also think that this doesn't mean that they have to tease people who love to read about their way of (to me at least) survival. So many people I know don't understand my love to read, but believe me, I've seen what they read, and I just don't think that they are reading the right books for their personalities. On the other hand, a lot of my friends read the same kind of books I do, so we lend each other books, and recommend books to each other. I also think that this site has helped me to say what I think about reading, and it is a big part of my life to read. Thank you so much Alan Brown for this site.
I'd like to say Hi. I have a message for all kids who like me love to read. These are some things that I have learnt: 1)Reading and being able to get pleasure from it is one of the greatest pleasures and gifts in life and many people don't have it. It's a gift and they don't know what they're missing. 2)READING DOES NOT CLASSIFY YOU AS A 'DORK' OR A 'NERD'. (I put this in capitals because I have been confronted with such situations many times). The people who scoff at you are the so called nerds. 3)It is very useful as it improves your vocabulary, expands your horizons and brings you knowledge and ideas. I got 96, the highest in all the 8th grade classes in English thanks to it. 4)Never ever give up reading. It's a must. I'd like to thank you very much Mr.Brown for this site because it's amazing and the best of its kind and all those who log on to it will wholeheartedly agree.
I'd like to say that I absolutely love this website. Checking on this website, submitting things on it... To me, this website is a part of my life. It's my second nature. Reading is, well, basically an epic adventure. Paragraph to paragraph, page to page, book to book, library to library... Reading's a part of my life and hopefully, your life as well. Reading develops all sorts of skills that are essential to your life. Reading can take you on an adventure. And, this site is a huge part of reading to me. If you take away this site, it would be like taking away a huge chunk of reading for me. I love the way Alan devoted this site to reading and letting people from around the world communicate with other people who share similar opinions. So to everyone on this site: NEVER EVER stop reading!
I'd like to say that I thank Alan very much for creating and maintaining this site. I really would be extremely bored in my computer time without this site. And I love the idea of sharing your reviews, comments, and everything else on this site with other kids that love books. I'd like to say that reading is fantastic, and that it takes me away into a completely different world to feel and see the things the characters say and do. I can become anything while reading a book: an apple, a dragon, a girl and anything else imaginable. Anything would be possible in books. Reading is way better than just sitting there watching TV or playing video games. Reading is a great way of going on a adventure or just improving your spelling and vocabulary without even leaving your seat. Reading is great for everybody!
I'd like to say that well....here it is. My last comment I'll ever write for this website. I can't believe how fast time has gone! It seems like I'm still 12 years old, very excited because something I've written is actually being "published" where other kids can read it. I want to thank you, Mr. Brown, for giving me the enjoyment of knowing that there are other kids out there who are just as passionate about reading as I am. I want to thank you for taking suggestions from me for a Harry Potter trivia page and a page to write about Harry Potter. This site has been so much fun, and I'll still come back and read people's reviews, even if I can't comment on them anymore. I am very sad to have to stop writing stuff for this site soon, but I understand that if 15 year olds were allowed, then people who were 15 would want 16 year olds to be allowed...and on and on and on. But anyway thanks for making this site, a place where I feel like what I have to say really matters and makes a difference. Thank you, and good luck with the site! I'll be recommending it to all the kids I babysit for once they're old enough to surf the net. :)
I'd like to say that I think that reading is the best thing that anybody could ever do because you learn more than if you are just sitting there watching TV. Also reading helps improve your vocabulary. Reading and writing are great ways to express yourself. you really need to know how to read when you get older so reading now will be very convenient for when you get old.
Hi, my name is Vanessa and I really enjoy reading. Reading takes you away from everything that is happening and brings you to a whole new world. Anything is possible in books. You can take a book anywhere you go, but you can only watch TV sometimes. When I grow up, I would like to be a part time author and share the joy of reading with others. I like this website because it gives great links and tips, and because I can meet other book-lovers around the world. Thanks Alan!
I'd like to say that I love to read, especially to get away from a tough day of work or chores, but anyhow...I would like to say that reading is a great thing to do. It inspires your everyday learning skills and promotes you to a higher standard at school. Reading and writing are two types of the arts that has helped me learn right from wrong. You may wonder how, but I'll tell you that reading is the most greatest way to learn and learning is a great thing to do, if you take a chance. Writing is inspired from reading; it will take you on your own adventures that will soon evolve into many climaxes. So to everyone out there who loves to be in a mystery or action scenario, your number one key to enter is to pick up a book and start reading. Keep reading, keep writing, and keep enjoying life!
I'd like to say that I LUUUUUUUUUV reading! I love that way that when you feel down, low or depressed you can just pick up a book and fly away to another world. When I am feeling bad, I pick up a book and I feel like I'm flying through a black hole and all the bad things are being washed away from me. I luv reading so much that I want to be an author when I grow up. I want to go to schools and hear kids saying "Have you read anything by Claire *****? Her books are brilliant!" Even if only one kid says they like my work, I will have succeeded. Of course, if I can get rich in the process than that's a bonus. I haven't always been a great reader/writer. When I was at primary school, I was in bottom set for English. Teachers told me I was stupid and would die of shock if I ever strung two words together that made sense. HA HA! You got it wrong! But even now, there are other kids who don't believe in me. And they haven't even read anything by me! But I just ignore them. And so should anybody else who gets negative vibes from other kids because of who they are. Everybody is special, and if you can find something which you *truly* luv doing, that's FANTASTIC!!! Don't stop being special because someone else can't see how great you are! To all of you out there who luv reading, who like reading or who just read... KEEP GOING!!! KEEP WRITING!!! KEEP READING!!! KEEP ON BEING SPECIAL!!!
I'd like to say that when I read a book all of my troubles just go away and I feel like I am in the book. I love to read. I would like to remind you that reading is magical. I have read many books and from that comes real knowledge and when you have that you feel great. You can not keep the knowledge to yourself but it is also very hard to explain to a friend who has not read many books. This knowledge does not come over night nor does it come from someone telling you about it. This kind of knowledge comes from your heart and you will just know when when you have obtained the knowledge because you will feel it. This is special because everyone has their own kind of magic that comes from the heart. So get out there and obtain that knowledge right now!
I'd like to say that when I am trapped in a book it feels like I am the character and whatever happens even if it is something that I know is completely bogus it still feels like it is happening to me. When I pick up a book I Swear it feels like it is magical and if any one broke the magic then they would be in a lot of trouble. Reading a book is like you are actually absorbed in another world and you are never really out of that world until you finish the book. Even when you are done with the book you are never really out of the world no exceptions. When you read a book that you really like I can not put the book down. Every book has its own little world and if you saw a movie based on a book I feel empty because I could have read the book instead of just gone and done something that wasted my money. A book is magical so don't any one ever forget that.
I'd like to say that I like to read a lot because if something you wish you could just forget is going on in your life momentarily all of it goes away while you're turning the pages of a good book. I myself like mysteries, thrillers, and classic scary stories.
I'd like to say that I have read many books. I love historical fiction and fantasy, but I find that it is terribly difficult to find good books now days. A lot of books are being written about boy/girl stuff and boy vs. girl, hate-your-mom-and-dad, and frankly, I am not interested in any of that garbage. I would like to encourage all of you young authors out there to write about good things, not garbage. I don't think that there are that many good books being written today, and pretty soon, I am going to run out of books to read. Two of my favorite books are Robin Hood, by Paul Creswick, and Rifles for Watie. I highly recommend them to good-book-lovers.
I'd like to say that I love reading and have been reading since an early age. Unfortunately most of my friends don't like to read and don't really understand why I do, they get surprised when I read a book quickly (for example I read Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix in a day.) but I don't understand how they can't enjoy reading. I recently read a book called Stagefright and I didn't want to put it down because basically it rocked! I love it when I'm reading a book and I don't want it to end, it makes reading the bad books worth it. Keep reading everyone because sometimes its a great way to escape.
